Overview
Lac Village is the main White Thai village in the Mai Chau valley, 140km southwest of Hanoi, built on raised wooden stilt houses in a flat rice-growing valley ringed by karst peaks. White Thai women sell hand-woven textiles — indigo-dyed fabric, scarves, and traditional dress — from house fronts along the main track. Homestays in stilt houses with shared evening meals are the standard way to spend the night; the valley feels genuinely slow-paced by Vietnamese tourist-circuit standards.
