The right apps can transform your Vietnam trip — from navigating city traffic to translating menus and booking rides. Here are the essential apps to download before you land.

First: Get a Vietnamese SIM Card

Before anything else, pick up a local SIM card on arrival — airport kiosks sell them for around $5–10/month. This gives you reliable data access across the country. Nearly every hotel, restaurant, and café also offers free Wi-Fi (coffee shops from as little as $0.50 a visit), so even on a tight data plan you’ll stay connected. Download offline content for your key apps — maps and translation packs especially — before you leave your accommodation each day.

Navigation
