Fansipan Peak

The highest mountain in Indochina at 3,143 m. Reachable by cable car or a 2-day trek from Sapa.

Overview

Fansipan is the highest peak in Vietnam and all of Indochina, rising to 3,147 metres in the Hoang Lien Son range, about 9 km from Sapa town. A Guinness World Record-holding cable car covers most of the ascent in 15-20 minutes, with a further roughly 600 stone steps leading to the summit itself. On a clear day the views stretch across layered mountain ridgelines and cloud-filled valleys.

Cable car ticket: around 800,000 VND. Best visited September-November or March-May, when skies are clearest.
