Ang Pagoda (Tra Vinh)
One of the oldest and most elaborate Khmer pagodas in Tra Vinh, reflecting the province's large ethnic Khmer population and distinct temple style.
Overview
Ang Pagoda (Chua Ang) is among the oldest Khmer Buddhist temples in Tra Vinh province, which has one of the largest ethnic Khmer populations in the Mekong Delta. The pagoda's steep, multi-tiered roofs, gilded detailing, and surrounding statuary are typical of Khmer temple architecture found throughout the province, distinct from the Vietnamese and Chinese-style pagodas elsewhere in the delta.
Tra Vinh city has dozens of Khmer pagodas in total; Ang Pagoda is one of the most visited and well maintained.
