Sa Dec & the River Towns
Overview
Sa Dec is a small river town in Dong Thap province known for its flower nurseries — 15 million plants in 440 varieties spread across the banks of the Sa Dec River, supplying the whole Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City around Tet. Marguerite Duras set her novel The Lover in Sa Dec; the house of her lover's family is preserved and open to visitors. The surrounding river towns of Vinh Long and Cao Lanh are accessible by short boat trips through narrow canals.
