Overview
Dong Van Old Quarter is the most well-preserved historic town in northern Vietnam’s highlands — a cluster of around 40 stone-and-tile houses built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by Chinese and Hmong merchants. The architecture is a hybrid of southern Chinese and Vietnamese highland styles, with thick stone walls, wooden balconies, and dark tile roofs crowded along narrow lanes.
