Overview
The Yen Minh Pine Forest is one of the most unexpected and beautiful sections of the Ha Giang Loop — a stretch of tall pine trees lining both sides of QL4C between Ha Giang City and Dong Van. Known locally as “the Da Lat of the north,” the mist-covered pine forest creates a completely different atmosphere to the stark limestone karst that dominates most of the loop.

What to See
- Pine-lined highway — tall Vietnamese pines arching over the road for several kilometres on the approach to Yen Minh town
- Morning mist — the forest is often filled with low-lying fog in the early morning; one of the most atmospheric stretches of the loop
- Yen Minh town — a quiet market town surrounded by terraced valleys; good overnight stop between Ha Giang City and Dong Van
- Valley views — the road descends through forested hillsides into deep green valleys before climbing again to the plateau

- Location: QL4C highway, ~60–80 km north of Ha Giang City; between Quan Ba and Dong Van
- Best time: Early morning for mist; late afternoon for golden light through the pines
Tips
- Stop at one of the roadside coffee spots in the pine forest — sitting in the mist with a Vietnamese coffee is one of the loop's quiet pleasures
- Yen Minh is the best overnight stop for breaking the loop into manageable days
- The pine forest is most beautiful in January–March when mist is persistent
