Linh Ung Pagoda
Overview
Linh Ung Pagoda sits on the southern slope of Son Tra Peninsula, overlooking the bay and the city. The site is dominated by a 67-metre white Guanyin statue — the tallest in Vietnam — standing on a lotus pedestal at the cliff edge. The statue is visible from My Khe Beach and much of the Da Nang waterfront.
The pagoda itself is active and well-maintained, with elaborately decorated halls, large incense urns, and a series of 18 Arhat statues lining the approach paths. Shoes must be removed before entering the main hall. The grounds are large enough to walk for 30–40 minutes. Morning visits are quieter; weekends draw Vietnamese pilgrims and domestic tourists in numbers.
Get There
Son Tra Peninsula is 10 km northeast of the Da Nang city centre. By motorbike (rented for around 150,000 VND/day), the coastal road from the city takes about 20 minutes. Taxis are straightforward — ask for "Linh Ung Son Tra". The pagoda is signed from the main peninsula road. There is a car park at the site; entry to the pagoda grounds is free.
