Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum
Overview
The Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum is at 66 Nguyễn Thái Học, across the road from the Temple of Literature. It opened in 1966 in a French colonial building and covers Vietnamese art from prehistoric bronzes and carved wooden Buddhist statues to 20th-century lacquer and silk painting. The galleries are air-conditioned and rarely crowded.
Get There
The museum faces the north side of the Temple of Literature on Nguyễn Thái Học, about 2 km west of Hoàn Kiếm Lake. Most people combine the two: walk out of the Temple of Literature, cross the road and you are there. From the Old Quarter it is a 10-minute Grab ride.
Hotels
Stay in the Old Quarter or around Hoàn Kiếm Lake; the museum is a short ride away. Ba Đình district, closer to the museum, has fewer hotels aimed at visitors.

Tickets and time: VND 40,000 for adults and VND 10,000 for children aged 6 to 15. Allow about 2 hours.
Tips: Visit after the Temple of Literature, which is mostly outdoors, to get out of the midday heat.
