From Hai Phong city center, we continue in the direction to Tan Vu – Lach Huyen bridge to reach Cat Hai island district, then take a ferry from Got wharf to Cai Vieng wharf, and finally use car or motorbike to move to the center of Cat Ba island. 

In this way, it only takes you about 5 minutes to go from Hai Phong city to Cat Hai island, and you have the opportunity to admire the longest sea bridge in Southeast Asia. 

Note that Tan Vu Bridge does not charge traffic fees. The fare for the ferry at Got Wharf is 6,000 VND for pedestrians, 20,000 VND for motorbikes, and 80,000 VND for cars under 9 seats. Time to Cai Vieng wharf is about 25 minutes.

Traveling to Cat Ba 2 days 1 night was completely an impromptu idea, so Nhu Y’s group of friends did not have too much time to learn and carefully prepare for the trip. However, the journey to discover Cat Ba only 2 days brought more interesting things than I thought.

Day 1: Hanoi – Hai Phong – Cat Ba Island

At 6 am, Nhu Y and his friends started to depart from Hanoi to Hai Phong by train, and after about 3 hours, they arrived.

We had a quick breakfast in Hai Phong, then continued to move to Cat Ba island according to the route shared above. After arriving in Cat Ba, the whole group was quite tired, so they just wanted to check-in the hotel and then go to sleep to prepare for afternoon activities.

Around 1pm, we rented motorbikes to visit Cat Ba National Park. This is really a perfect place to start your journey to discover Cat Ba 2 days 1 night. Standing in the middle of the majestic mountains and forests, the majestic nature, all fatigue seems to disappear immediately. 

Here, Italy and friends saw rare endangered langurs, took on challenges of walking and cycling in the forest, and tasted precious natural products such as wild honey, and tea. rose flowers. Especially, from the top of Ngu Lam, we had a “surreal” picture with a beautiful mountain scene appearing in front of us. Thus, with only 80,000 VND/person, we gained a lot of unmistakable knowledge and experience.

Leaving Cat Ba National Park, we went to Cat Co 3 beach, to “jump out” with the waves, and not forget to save the most magical moments on the coastal road.

Around 5pm, Nhu Y’s group of friends decided to return to the hotel to rest and have dinner. After that, a friend in the group was interested in walking around Cat Ba town by motorbike, so the group decided to go. 

You know, how bustling this town is during the day, at night, Cat Ba seems to give way to silence. The fresh climate and the cold sea breeze blowing gently in the ear creates an extremely comfortable feeling. We followed the mountain road, connecting 3 main beaches, to enjoy a leisurely evening on Cat Ba Island. 

Day 2: Lan Ha Bay – Cai Beo Fishing Village – Monkey Island – Hanoi

Nhu Y spent the 2nd full day to visit Lan Ha Bay, a place not to be missed when coming to Cat Ba. According to our assessment, Lan Ha Bay is the highlight of this 2 days 1 night Cat Ba tour. 

Around 8:00, after breakfast and check-out, we went to Beo wharf and toured Lan Ha Bay and Monkey Island. Lan Ha Bay at first glance looks quite similar to Ha Long Bay, but Lan Ha is more attractive because it still retains many wild features and majestic caves covered with green trees.

When  exploring Lan Ha Bay , Nhu Y combined with visiting Cai Beo fishing village – the oldest floating village in Vietnam, also known as Vung O fishing village. Here there are only about 300 households, associated with fishing activities. catch seafood and raise fish in cages on the bay. After arriving at the fishing village, Nhu Y’s group of friends decided to have lunch with 1001 fresh seafood dishes, including octopus, crabs, sea clams, lobsters, and especially Tu Comei.

After lunch, we continue to kayak through Cai Beo fishing village and some small islands to Monkey Island.

Previously, Monkey Island was called Cat Dua Island because there are many wild pineapple trees on the island, but now, this island is called Monkey Island because it is home to monkeys managed by Cat National Park management board. She dropped in. If possible, you should try climbing to the top of the mountain at Monkey Island to have a panoramic view of Lan Ha Bay, you will see that your Lan Ha Bay is very similar to Kelingking’s “dinosaur spine” in Bali.
