Son Tra Peninsula & Linh Ung Pagoda

Son Tra Peninsula is a 4,400-hectare forested promontory 10 km northeast of Da Nang, rising to 693 m and jutting into the South China Sea. It is the most biodiverse area near Da Nang — home to the red-shanked douc langur, one of the world's most endangered primates, along with over 100 bird species, wild boar, and coastal marine life. The road to the summit winds through primary forest past military installations before reaching the cliff-side Linh Ung Pagoda.

Motorbike is the best way to explore — rent one in the city for around 150,000 VND/day and allow 2–3 hours for the full loop. Red-shanked doucs are most often spotted at dawn and dusk along the forest road near the summit, typically in the upper canopy. The peninsula's east-facing beaches (Tien Sa, Bai Nam) are quieter alternatives to My Khe.
