What to See

• Twin Mountains (Nui Doi) — two near-identical karst mounds rising from the valley floor; the most iconic image of the Ha Giang Loop
• Tam Son Valley panorama — terraced fields, river, and limestone peaks in all directions
• Heaven Gate viewpoint — a stone platform and small pavilion at the pass summit
• Morning mist — the valley often fills with fog at dawn, with the twin peaks emerging above it

• Location: QL4C highway, ~45 km north of Ha Giang City; the first mountain pass on the loop
• Time needed: 20–30 minutes for photos and views
• Best time: Early morning (mist in valley) or late afternoon (golden light on the twin peaks)

Tips

• This is the first major viewpoint leaving Ha Giang City — set the alarm for an early start to catch the mist
• The twin peaks are most dramatic in February when canola fields surround them in yellow
• Roadside vendors sell corn and grilled meats at the viewpoint — a good breakfast stop
• Quan Ba town below the pass has the best accommodation for the first night on the loop
