Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House
A restored early 20th-century merchant house in Sa Dec blending French and Vietnamese design, tied to Marguerite Duras's novel The Lover.
Overview
Built in the early 1900s, Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House in Sa Dec combines French colonial architectural details with a traditional Vietnamese wooden interior, and is best known as the real-life home associated with the relationship at the centre of Marguerite Duras's novel The Lover. The house has been carefully restored and is open as a small museum, with much of its original furniture and layout intact.
A compact but well-preserved stop, easily combined with a wider visit to Sa Dec's flower-growing districts.
