Sa Dec Flower Village
Dong Thap's flower-growing hub, its riverside fields packed with ornamental blooms grown for markets across the south — busiest and most colourful before Tet.
Overview
Sa Dec, in Dong Thap province, is one of the Mekong Delta's main centres for ornamental flower cultivation, with riverside plots given over to marigolds, chrysanthemums, and rows of potted blooms grown for sale across southern Vietnam. The village is also known for the Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House, a well-preserved early 20th-century French-Vietnamese merchant residence associated with the writer Marguerite Duras.
Fields are at their fullest and most photogenic in the weeks leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), when growers time their harvest for the holiday flower trade.
