Truc Lam Zen Monastery
A working Buddhist monastery on a pine-forested mountain above Tuyen Lam Lake — manicured gardens, mountain views, and one of the most peaceful spots near Da Lat.
Overview
Truc Lam is an active Zen monastery six kilometres outside the city centre, set on a mountainside above Tuyen Lam Lake and reached either by a walk through pine forest or the Da Lat cable car from Robin Hill. The grounds are immaculately kept — clipped hedges, flowerbeds, and bonsai frame the temple buildings, with views over the lake and surrounding pine forest from the terraces. It remains a functioning monastery, so a respectful dress code applies: shoulders, chest, and knees covered.
Free entry, open 05:00–21:00 daily. Cable car from Robin Hill: 150,000 VND return, a 12-minute ride over pine forest and valleys. About 6 km south of the city centre.
