December brings Da Nang’s dry season back — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and festive energy around Christmas and New Year. The city is beautiful this month: the Han River bridges are lit up, the beach is clean and calm, and the holiday atmosphere along the promenade is warm and welcoming. Visitor numbers rise through the month toward the Christmas–New Year peak, but December remains more manageable than the January–February high season.

Best Things to Do in Da Nang in December
Marble Mountains
December is one of the most pleasant months to visit the Marble Mountains — the temperatures are comfortable enough for the climb at any time of day (not just early morning), and the clear December skies give some of the year’s best hilltop views. The cave shrines are decorated for the Christmas period and the approaching new year. Entry: 40,000 VND; elevator: 15,000 VND. Allow 2 hours.

Museum of Cham Sculpture
A December visit to the Cham museum combines well with the cultural sightseeing mood of the festive season — the collection of 7th–15th century sandstone sculptures is among the most significant in Southeast Asia and rewards a slow visit. The French colonial building and garden give a sense of Da Nang’s layered colonial and pre-colonial history. Entry: 60,000 VND.

My Khe Beach
December beach conditions are excellent — the sea is calm and clear, the temperature is comfortable for swimming in the middle of the day (rather than just the morning), and the beachfront promenade is beautifully lit in the evenings with Christmas and New Year decorations. Fresh seafood season continues: lobster, crab, and large prawns are at their best quality. Evening walks along the beach in December are among the most atmospheric in the city.

Hai Van Pass
December is an excellent month for the Hai Van Pass — the dry season road is in good condition, the summit views are clear on most mornings, and the comfortable temperatures make the drive enjoyable at any time of day. The coastal panorama from the summit in December light is particularly dramatic: the sea is deep blue, the bays gleam, and on clear days the view extends far down the coast in both directions. Allow a half day and combine with a swim stop at Lang Co.

Also Worth Doing
- Dragon Bridge: The weekend fire and water show (Saturday and Sunday, 9 PM) is particularly atmospheric in December’s festive lights
- Linh Ung Pagoda (Lady Buddha): Son Tra Peninsula on a clear December day — the views from the 67-metre statue over the bay are stunning in the dry season clarity
- Han River boat cruise: The river in December is lit with Christmas and New Year decorations; evening cruises are one of the best ways to see the illuminated bridges
- Day trip to Hoi An: The Ancient Town is beautifully decorated for Christmas and the dry season weather makes the evening lantern atmosphere perfect
