Marble Mountains

Museum of Cham Sculpture

Vietnam’s most important repository of Cham artefacts houses hundreds of sandstone sculptures spanning the 7th to 15th centuries — Hindu deities, temple decorations, and ceremonial objects recovered from Cham sites across central Vietnam. My Khe Beach

Da Nang’s main beach stretches for 20 miles of soft white sand with the city backdrop to the north and the Marble Mountains to the south. Hai Van Pass

The mountain pass connecting Da Nang to Hue is one of Vietnam’s most celebrated coastal drives — a winding road over a 496-metre summit with views of turquoise bays, forested slopes, and (on clear days) the Lang Co lagoon far below. January is one of the better months to make the drive: the dry season keeps the mountain road in good condition and the views are unobstructed. A French-era fort and sea goddess shrine sit at the summit; the journey itself is the draw. Best done by motorbike or hired car.
