Da Nang in April: Hot Sunshine, Beach Season Peak & Reunification Day

April is one of Da Nang’s hottest and sunniest months — long days, warm sea, and the dry season at full stretch. The Reunification Day long weekend at the end of the month brings a surge of domestic visitors, but outside that period April is genuinely excellent for beach holidays and outdoor sightseeing. The sea temperature is warm for swimming and the city has a summery energy.

Best Things to Do in Da Nang in April

My Khe Beach

April’s warm water and long daylight hours make the beach the centre of Da Nang life this month. The 20-mile stretch of white sand from the city to the Marble Mountains is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and the fresh seafood restaurants that line the beachfront. The sea is calm and warm; water sports (jet skiing, parasailing, stand-up paddleboarding) operate along the beach from morning. Visit early morning for the most peaceful conditions — by afternoon the beach fills up.

Marble Mountains

Visit in the early morning in April — by 10 AM the limestone caves and outdoor stairways are already warm, and midday inside the caves is humid. The sunrise view from the summit is worth an early start: the coast spreads south towards Hoi An, the ocean glitters in the clear April light, and the city is quiet below. Entry: 40,000 VND; elevator: 15,000 VND. Allow 1.5–2 hours.

Museum of Cham Sculpture

A natural choice for April’s hottest midday hours — the French colonial museum building is cool and shaded, and the Cham artefact collection rewards a slow, attentive visit. Look out for the massive kala faces (mythological demon heads used as temple guardians), the elaborately carved apsara dancer panels, and the collection of linga-yoni altars. Entry: 60,000 VND. Allow 90 minutes.

Hai Van Pass

April is one of the best months for the Hai Van Pass drive — the mountain road is dry, the vegetation is lush, and the summit views over the Da Nang Bay and the Lang Co lagoon are at their clearest. Avoid the midday heat by leaving early morning; the pass is at its most photogenic in the golden hour before 8 AM. The drive to the summit and back (via the coastal road south, highway tunnel north) makes a satisfying half-day.

  • Ba Na Hills: The mountaintop resort with the famous Golden Bridge and French village is cooler than the city — a good full-day escape from April’s heat
  • Linh Ung Pagoda (Lady Buddha): The Son Tra Peninsula drive is beautiful in April’s clear weather; the 67-metre statue overlooks the bay from a hilltop pagoda complex
  • Day trip to Hoi An: 30 minutes south — the Ancient Town is particularly beautiful in April’s clear evening light
  • Dragon Bridge: Weekend evening fire show at 9 PM — a reliable Da Nang highlight
