April evenings in the Ancient Town are particularly beautiful — the warm light, the lantern glow, and the clear dry-season sky combine on the riverside promenade and the narrow backstreets into one of the most photogenic scenes in Vietnam. Visit the main sights in the early morning (cooler and less crowded), then return in the evening when the yellow façades glow in the lantern light. Ancient Town ticket: 120,000 VND, valid 3 days.
An Bang Beach
April is one of An Bang’s best months — the sea is warm and calm, the beach is clean, and the laid-back bamboo restaurant strip is at full capacity with a pleasantly unhurried crowd. Mornings are ideal for swimming before the midday heat peaks; afternoons are good for a shaded lunch and cold drinks at one of the beachside bars. The 5 km cycle from town through the rice paddies is a pleasant way to arrive. Lounge chairs: 75,000–200,000 VND.
My Son Sanctuary
Visit My Son in the early morning in April — by 10 AM the jungle valley site is hot and tour groups have arrived in numbers. The 6:30 AM opening allows a nearly private experience of the 4th–14th century Cham ruins before the heat and the crowds build. The site covers several groups of temples across a forested valley; Group B (the main cluster) and Group A (partially destroyed by US bombing) are the highlights. Entry: 150,000 VND; allow 3 hours including the drive from Hoi An.
Kim Bong Carpentry Village
Accessible by boat across the Thu Bon River from Hoi An’s market wharf, Kim Bong is Vietnam’s most celebrated traditional carpentry village — the craftspeople here built much of the Ancient Town’s wooden architecture and continue to make furniture, boats, and decorative pieces using traditional techniques. April’s comfortable conditions make the boat crossing and the village walk particularly enjoyable. The return boat trip at sunset is worth timing for.
