Hon Mun Island Diving & Snorkelling

March is considered one of the top months for diving and snorkelling around Nha Trang. Water visibility is excellent, currents are gentle, and the coral around Hon Mun Marine Protected Area is in good condition. Whether you’re a certified diver going deep or a snorkeller staying on the surface, the marine life here — reef fish, sea turtles, and occasional reef sharks — is worth the boat trip. Several reputable dive operators (Rainbow Divers, Sailing Club Divers) offer PADI courses, fun dives, and island tours year-round.

Po Nagar Cham Towers

The hilltop Cham temple complex is best appreciated in the early morning in March — the light is soft, the air is cool, and the views over the Cai River fishing harbour are particularly clear. The towers’ intricate brick carvings and the active shrines inside give a sense of the living religious tradition that has continued here for over a thousand years. Allow 45–60 minutes. Entry: 30,000 VND.

Vinpearl Cable Car & Hon Tre Island

March’s reliably clear skies make the cable car crossing to Hon Tre Island particularly good — the 3,320-metre ride over Nha Trang Bay gives panoramic views of the coastline, the islands, and the city. VinWonders on the island is a full-day resort complex with a water park, rides, and aquarium. The cable car alone is worth the trip for the views; combine with a beach afternoon on Hon Tre’s private beach for a good day out.

Long Son Pagoda

March’s pleasant temperatures make the 152-step climb to the white Buddha statue at Long Son Pagoda comfortable at any time of day — not just the early morning. The pagoda grounds are well-maintained and peaceful; the hilltop views take in the city, the coast, and the surrounding mountains in a single sweep. Free entry; modest dress required.

Also Worth Doing

  • Thap Ba Hot Springs: Mud baths and mineral pools — particularly good in March before the summer heat makes hot springs less appealing
  • Doc Let Beach: 49 km north — long white-sand beach with calm March waters, far quieter than the city beach strip
  • Countryside bicycle tour: March’s mild temperatures make cycling through the rice paddies and coastal villages around Nha Trang genuinely enjoyable
  • Museum of Oceanography: Vietnam’s oldest ocean museum — whale skeleton, live aquariums, underwater tunnel. Entry: 40,000 VND

Practical Tips for March

  • Dive operators: Book through established dive shops rather than pier touts — Rainbow Divers and Sailing Club Divers have the strongest reputations
  • Timing: Beach and outdoor activities are comfortable all day in March — no need to restrict sightseeing to early morning as in summer
  • Easter weekend: Late March sees a small uptick in domestic visitors — book accommodation slightly ahead if dates overlap
