April is one of Nha Trang’s hottest and sunniest months — long days, strong sun, and warm sea conditions make it a prime beach month. The dry season is entering its final stretch before the rains arrive in May, and the city takes on a summer energy well before the domestic peak hits. It’s busy around the long Reunification Day holiday at the end of the month, but otherwise more manageable than January or February.

Best Things to Do in Nha Trang in April
Hon Mun Island & Island Hopping
April’s warm, calm sea conditions make island boat tours excellent — the water temperature is inviting and visibility is still good before the rains cloud things up. The classic four-island tour (Hon Mun, Hon Tam, Hon Mot, Hon Mieu) covers snorkelling, beach time, and a seafood lunch aboard the boat. Traditional fishing tours also begin in April, offering a more local alternative to the standard tourist cruise.

Po Nagar Cham Towers
Around the Hung Kings Festival, Po Nagar sees increased local visitors — families come to make offerings at the Cham shrines in the spirit of ancestor commemoration. The towers are at their most culturally alive during festival periods. Outside the holiday itself, early morning visits in April offer good light and the hilltop views on clear days extend far down the coast. Entry: 30,000 VND.

Long Son Pagoda
April includes Buddha’s Birthday celebrations (date varies by lunar calendar) — Long Son Pagoda is decorated with colourful lanterns and flowers, and the grounds are busy with worshippers. The festive atmosphere adds another layer to a visit that’s worth making in any month for the panoramic hilltop views. Visit in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the April midday heat on the 152-step climb. Free entry.

Museum of Oceanography
A good option for a cooler afternoon break from April’s heat — Vietnam’s oldest oceanographic museum has a whale skeleton (the centrepiece of the main hall), live shark and turtle tanks, tropical fish aquariums, and an underwater tunnel walkway. It’s genuinely interesting and takes around 1.5 hours to cover properly. Entry: 40,000 VND.

Also Worth Doing
- Thap Ba Hot Springs: Still enjoyable in April before the summer heat makes mud baths less appealing — go in the early morning for the best experience
- Ba Ho Waterfalls: Three jungle pools with cliff jumping — April’s last dry month makes the forest trail accessible; entry 200,000 VND
- Doc Let Beach: 49 km north — long and quiet compared to the city beach, ideal for a half-day escape
