Quick answer: September is a mixed month. The first half is often still fine for the beach, but rainfall triples compared with August (about 230 mm over 16 days), and the sea gets rougher toward the end of the month. Go early in September, keep plans flexible and watch the forecast for tropical storms.

What it was like for us: I stayed in early September 2026. Days were mostly cloudy with light rain, and the rain got much heavier in the evenings, so plan outdoor trips for the morning. (Jack Ng)

- Ky Co and Eo Gio on a clear morning. Eo Gio is about 30 minutes from the city-beach hotels; entry is normally 50,000 VND, but it was half price (25,000 VND) over the 2 September holiday in 2026.
